INTERIOR WORKBOOK

Create a home that feels like you.

It’s easy to lose sight of your own style when you’re surrounded by beautiful interiors every day. Home with Character helps you step away from the comparison trap, recognize what genuinely speaks to you, and create a home that feels personal, intentional, and distinctly yours.

Beautiful interiors are everywhere. Your own style can get lost in them.

Pinterest, Instagram, interior magazines – inspiration has never been easier to find. And yet, the more beautiful homes we see, the harder it can become to recognize what we actually like for ourselves.

We start collecting rooms, colors and pieces that look beautiful on their own, but somewhere along the way our own point of view becomes less clear. Instead of feeling inspired, we begin comparing, second-guessing and wondering whether our home is ever quite good enough.

Home with Character is about turning inspiration back into something useful: a tool for discovering your own visual language rather than copying someone else’s.

What you’ll discover inside

This workbook is designed to help you understand what genuinely appeals to you, recognize the patterns behind your choices, and translate them into a home that feels coherent, personal, and lived-in.

This workbook is for you if…

01 You love beautiful interiors, but struggle to recognize what is truly yours.
You save countless images and ideas, yet your own direction still feels unclear.

02 You keep questioning your choices.
A new room, color, trend or piece of furniture can make you rethink what you already have.

03 Your home contains things you like, but somehow still feels unfinished.
You want more coherence without making every room look the same.

04 You want a home with personality, not a copy of someone else’s.
A space that reflects your story, preferences and way of living rather than a predefined aesthetic.

05 You want to make more intentional decisions.
To understand what is worth keeping, changing or investing in — instead of constantly starting over.

06 You’re ready to move from inspiration to clarity.
And create a home that feels collected, personal and distinctly yours.

FROM THE BLOG TO THE WORKBOOK

Home with Character didn’t begin as a product idea.

Created by me, Julia Hartmann, co-founder of the German lifestyle blog echt Hartmann, where we have been writing about interiors, design, travel and intentional living for years.

I wanted to bring together the ideas I had been exploring for years — personal style, atmosphere, color, materials, contrast, design classics, meaningful objects and more intentional choices — and turn them into a practical process you can use in your own home.

Our blog „echt Hartmann“ is currently published in German. „Home with Character“ is available in both German and English. Visit the German-language blog → here

A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE

Home with Character combines editorial guidance with practical exercises and reflection prompts. It helps you develop a clearer point of view — and apply it to the rooms you already live in.

From inspiration to direction
Learn how to use Pinterest, magazines and saved interiors without getting lost in them — and turn inspiration into a moodboard that actually reflects you.

Create your visual thread
Identify the colors, materials, forms and details that keep appearing in what you love — and use them to create coherence throughout your home.

Add depth, not just more things
Explore how contrast, meaningful objects, design classics and a mix of old and new can give a room personality without making it feel styled for the sake of styling.

MORE THAN A STYLE QUIZ

There is no final label waiting for you at the end of this workbook. Instead, you’ll learn to recognize the individual ingredients that make a home feel right to you — and how to combine them in a way that feels consistent without becoming predictable.

The goal is not a perfectly styled home. It is a home with a point of view.
